The Bible has a lot to say about jealousy, and it’s definitely not a positive emotion. In fact, jealousy is often listed alongside other negative emotions like anger and hatred. The Bible tells us that jealousy is a sin that can lead to all sorts of terrible things, like murder and division. It’s clear that we should avoid jealousy at all costs, and instead focus on love and forgiveness.

1 Corinthians 13:4-5 says, “Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs.”

Proverbs 14:30 says, “A heart at peace gives life to the body, but envy rots the bones.”

Galatians 5:19-21 says, “The acts of the flesh are obvious: sexual immorality, impurity and debauchery; idolatry and witchcraft; hatred, discord, jealousy, fits of rage, selfish ambition, dissensions, factions and envy; drunkenness, orgies, and the like. I warn you, as I did before, that those who live like this will not inherit the kingdom of God.”

James 3:14-16 says, “But if you harbor bitter envy and selfish ambition in your hearts, do not boast about it or deny the truth. Such “wisdom” does not come down from heaven but is earthly, unspiritual, of the devil. For where you have envy and selfish ambition, there you find disorder and every evil practice.”
